When Illness Took Everything From Me
My journey to get my life back.
The Health Crisis
Long before I began helping others navigate their health, I experienced a health crisis that completely changed the course of my life.
At just 23 years old, following a period of extreme stress, my health began to deteriorate in ways I never could have imagined. What started as unexplained symptoms developed into a debilitating experience that affected nearly every aspect of my daily life.
I went from living a normal, active life to struggling with even the most basic everyday activities. I experienced overwhelming fatigue, excruciating muscle and joint pain, persistent nausea, severe dizziness, digestive issues, brain fog, anxiety, and depression. My body changed dramatically, and I gained nearly 60 pounds.
Every single day was a struggle. I spent my days lying in a dark room, unable to move because of the intensity of the pain, dizziness, nausea, and overwhelming fatigue. On a good day, I could barely lift my head off my pillow. My independence, my energy, and the life I had once known seemed to disappear. I barely recognized myself, physically or emotionally.
Perhaps one of the most difficult parts was not understanding why any of it was happening.
Searching for Answers
I searched for answers, hoping someone could explain what was happening inside my body and help me find a way forward. Instead, I was left with more questions, uncertainty, and the exhausting feeling of not knowing where to turn next.
I know firsthand how isolating it can be to live in a body that no longer feels like your own, desperately wanting your life back while wondering whether you will ever feel like yourself again.
I spent whatever little energy I had searching for answers online. I found myself deep in Facebook support groups, Reddit threads, health forums, and countless articles, desperately trying to find someone who had experienced what I was going through.
When you are that sick, searching for answers can become your entire world. I read other people’s stories, researched symptoms, and explored every possibility I could find. I wasn’t looking for a quick fix. I just wanted my life back.
My journey was neither quick nor straightforward. It required patience, persistence, and a willingness to keep searching even when progress felt impossibly far away. Over time, my health and quality of life improved profoundly.
Today, I have my life back.
I am able to enjoy the things that once felt completely out of reach. And while I would never wish that experience on anyone, it changed the way I understand health, healing, and the importance of being genuinely heard.
That experience ultimately shaped my decision to dedicate my professional life to helping others.
When someone comes to me feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, or exhausted from searching for answers, I understand that they are bringing more than a list of symptoms. They are bringing their fears, their frustrations, their hopes, and often years of feeling misunderstood.
My goal is to offer something I know can be incredibly meaningful during that process: individualized attention, thoughtful guidance, education, and a genuine commitment to understanding the person behind the symptoms.
Because I know what it feels like to lose your sense of self. And I know how much it means to begin finding it again.
